"This is a great project that helps encourage healthy eating and lifestyle choices, while also educates students about sustainability and the environment," Mr. Smith said. "More than 120 schools in Victoria applied for the programme so it is a credit to the staff and students at Bayswater North Primary School to be selected for this pilot programme." "At a time when childhood obesity is increasing and fruit and vegetable prices are soaring in supermarkets, it's great families can have access to fresh vegetables grown at their school." "I hope the new Rudd Government continues to invest in these important initiatives that improve children's health," Mr. Smith said. ~~~~~ JANE EDMANSON (GARDENING AUSTRALIA & 3AW) VISITS THE HOME GROWN PROJECT GARDEN AT THE GLENALLEN SCHOOL Â |
